Drug and alcohol abuse is a national pandemic impacting all ages. Opioid related addictions, overdose, and deaths are on the rise in recent years. This workshop will address the signs of substance use disorder with an emphasis on opioid overdose in youth and adults along with crisis and long-term intervention. Preparedness to intervene in life saving measures and assist by recognizing the signs of overdose and how to administer NARCAN with proficiency is vital for all organizations that serve vulnerable populations of all ages. It will empower staff to act decisively and timely. Referring for ongoing and follow up care for all substance use disorders, and wading through treatment options will be addressed including for families who lack financial resources.

• Administer lifesaving treatment
• Take appropriate steps to ensure medical care
• Follow up by offering families hope and resources for solutions
• Refer and link to accessible treatment options
